Novicom offers its customers a way to increase the efficiency and operational reliability of their networks. The software solutions that enable this are built on the Novicom SGP technology platform. Individual SGP components can be flexibly operated in the form of virtual or hardware appliances. In practice, the vast majority of customers prefer virtual appliances for control servers and hardware appliances for work servers (probes).
Hardware Novicom APPLIANCES
They are designed as reliable and affordable appliances that provide sufficient performance for the designed tasks. For this purpose, Novicom offers a family of standard appliances that differ in performance and focus. Given the proven benefits of the Novicom grid and clustering capabilities, Novicom prefers the model of simultaneous deployment of multiple cheap and simpler appliances, rather than deploying one complex and fully redundant box.
The physical appliance is guaranteed for 24 months. Standard product support brings customers, in addition to updating the Novicom APPLIANCES operating system, primarily the provision of security updates and a user helpdesk.
Virtual Novicom APPLIANCES
An alternative to operating hardware appliances is the possibility of delivering Novicom solutions in the form of virtual appliances. For control servers, this is practically standard. For work servers (probes), it is necessary to consider the suitability of deployment. It is necessary to verify, above all, whether a fully transparent transition between the network layers of the virtual environment and the physical network is resolved. If so, it is also a good idea to consider the real operational reliability of the operated virtual platform. The recommended model for customers who have these areas reliably resolved is a model where half of the work servers are operated in a virtual environment and half in the form of hardware appliances. This ensures that the second node of the asymmetric cluster will be available and provide the required services (typically DHCP/DNS/Radius) even in the event of a virtual platform failure.
All key components of the Novicom solution (control servers or work servers) also include the option to use the Novicom APPLIANCES operating system platform for their easy installation in a virtual environment. Support for the Novicom APPLIANCES virtual environment, in which the relevant Novicom component is operated, is included within the standard product support for this component – application support.
