Novicom at the Innovation Without Borders: The Prague-Algiers Connection event in Algiers
Following on from previous successful debates and meetings on the African continent, Jindřich Šavel, CEO of Novicom, participated in the "Innovation Without Borders: The Prague-Algiers Connection" meeting, which took place on July 22, 2026 at the Ikosim Tech Hub in Algiers. This event was held as part of the ASEC Connect & Act series, organized by the Algerian Startup Ecosystem Community (ASEC).
International partnerships often do not start with official delegations. They start with an individual initiative and then a meeting of people who believe in the power of dialogue, who take the initiative in building trust and turning ideas into real opportunities. And this also applies to building business relations between Algeria and the Czech Republic.
The meeting "Innovation without Borders: Prague-Algeria Bridge" brought together entrepreneurs, institutions and innovation actors on July 22 to discuss how to build sustainable economic and technological partnerships between Algeria and the Czech Republic.
Among the guests at this meeting were:
- Reda Ifrah — Special Envoy of the Chamber of Commerce of the Czech Republic for Algeria and Chairman of the Algerian Committee of the Foreign Section of the Chamber of Commerce of the Czech Republic.
- Jindřich Šavel - CEO of the Czech technology company Novicom - manufacturer of tools for network management, monitoring and security.
The meeting discussed, for example, the differences between doing business in the Czech Republic and Algeria.
"We discussed how to appropriately complement and set up naturally different ways of doing business so that entrepreneurs from the Czech Republic and Algeria can have a common competitive advantage in the global market," said Jindřich Šavel, CEO of Novicom.
"At this meeting, we confirmed the importance of Novicom's approach and strategy, not only in the markets of Europe and Southeast Asia, but also in North Africa, where the lack of qualified labor combined with the increasing number of fast cyber attacks really requires the implementation of automated network management systems, which must be connected to sophisticated cyber protection systems, optimally with Security Operations Centers (SOC)", added Šavel.
"During the talks, several representatives of Algerian universities, which can use modern sophisticated methods - including AI, also expressed interest in cooperation in the field of cybersecurity. Specifically, they were interested in our new product Novicom MIDARAI, which is essentially an advanced tool for detecting anomalies and cyber attacks in network traffic using artificial intelligence. At the same time, we were invited to think about their huge competitive advantage, which is data centers with very cheap energy. Algeria has energy prices at the level of approximately a quarter of European prices. Which means that we will also address this and consult on the possibilities of cooperation with our other technological partners. Because such a background, if it meets all legislative conditions, could bring us a common competitive advantage," added Šavel.
The meeting "Innovation Without Borders: The Prague-Algiers Connection" brought stimulating questions, interactions and rich discussions that made the evening a success and confirmed that the Algerian entrepreneurial ecosystem has ambitions and a desire to build partnerships that transcend borders.
